What had begun as…as…
What had begun as the imposition of martial
law on May 20th grew into a full-blown coup by the army as The
Economist went to press.
What had begun as good-natured teasing quickly gave way to recriminations as the lost hikers blamed one another for their predicament.
但感觉what had begun as…as…

What had begun as the imposition of martial law on May 20th/grew into a full-blown coup by the army/as The Economist went to press.
