As a Dane, I know that song comes from a Danish television Christmas calendar, which is a concept I’m not sure exists in countries outside Scandinavia. It is a television series of 24 episodes with a very feel-good and Chrismas-y theme, and it’s usually mostly for kids.
Now for the lyrics for the male part, first in Danish:
“En junker red ved juletid / tjing tjang tjing nutilej / omkring ham daled’ sneen hvid / tjing tjang tjing nutilej/ han stred sig frem i regn og blæst, med et der segnede hans hest / tjiing tjang lu, tjing tjang lu, tjing tjang tjing nutilej!”
And then an English translation (and it doesn’t rhyme, sorry guys):
“A junker rode at Christmastime /ching chang ching noot-ee-lie / around him the white snow was falling / ching chang ching noot-ee-lie / he struggled forward in rain and wind, suddenly his horse dropped / ching chong loo, ching chang loo, ching chang ching noot-ee-lie!”
First of all: a “junker” is something like a young nobleman or a squire. Also, I had some difficulty translating the “lutilej” part to English, and lastly, the word “segnede” means “dropped” as in “dropped dead”.
